Oakland County Latin Mass Association Weekly Sunday Tridentine Mass to Begin on May 4 at the Chapel of the Academy of the Sacred Heart

"I will go in unto the Altar of God
To God, Who giveth joy to my youth"

Tridentine Community News (April 13, 2014):
A major new Tridentine Mass site will debut in metro Detroit on Sunday, May 4: The Oakland County Latin Mass Association will commence its long-anticipated weekly Sunday Mass at 9:45 AM at the Chapel of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Sr. Bridget Bearss, RCSJ, Head of School at the Academy, extends a warm welcome to all interested in worshipping at this, the first Extraordinary Form site in Oakland County to be established after the reforms of Vatican II.

Part of a sumptuous private school campus, the Academy Chapel is located at 1250 Kensington Road, one half-mile south of Long Lake Rd., one half-mile east of Woodward Ave., and one mile south of the Opdyke Road ramp off the Square Lake Road exit from I-75. The chapel has a High Altar, Communion Rail, pipe organ, and all of the key requirements for a traditionally-celebrated Mass.

Archbishop Vigneron has appointed Msgr. Ronald Browne as Chaplain of the Oakland County Latin Mass Association, signifying the support of the Archdiocese of Detroit. High Mass (Missa Cantata) will be offered every Sunday, and Confessions will be offered before Mass.

A reception will be held after the first Mass on May 4. We hope to hold regular receptions to help build fellowship in the community.

Volunteers are needed: Are you interested in joining the choir? Serving at the altar? Being an usher or counting the collection? Helping with receptions? Please e-mail the address at the bottom of this page, or call (248) 250-2740 for more information.

Debut Parties for Extraordinary Faith

Two local viewing parties will be held to celebrate the April 14 debut on EWTN of our locally produced television series, Extraordinary Faith. This Monday evening, April 14, Juventútem Michigan is sponsoring one gathering in Ann Arbor for young adults age 18-35.

On Tuesday, April 15, another gathering will be held in the Social Hall of Windsor’s Assumption Church, following the 7:00 PM Tridentine Mass. Refreshments will be served.

At both events, the first episode of the series will be shown. This author, the Executive Producer of the series, will provide background about the show and will discuss plans for the future.

For more information, see the Facebook event pages for both events. Links to these event pages are on the Extraordinary Faith Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ExtraordinaryFaith.
