DNC screwup

As reported in the Navy Times (September 11, 2012)
"On the last night of the Democratic National Convention, a retired Navy four-star took the stage to pay tribute to veterans. Behind him, on a giant screen, the image of four hulking warships reinforced his patriotic message.

"But there was a big mistake in the stirring backdrop: those are Russian warships."

I'd think it was deliberate but I honestly believe most of the Donks can't tell the difference between Sovi-, err, I mean Russian, and American warships.

The DNC (Don't KNow Crap) has two possible explanations:

1. George W. Bush made that video.

2. The Russians did not build those ships.

Why would we think it was a mistake to put Russian warships at the DNC?
